How did you get into art?
I was grounded a lot.
How do you get inspiration for the pieces you produce?
I like creating work that is, to me, a visual description of movement and/or sound.
What has been your best creation to date?
The August cover for Vision Magazine has been my favorite as of yet... It's currently hanging at Thinkspace Gallery in LA www.thinkspacegallery.com AND secondly: my kitchen table.
How did you feel when you realised that art could make you some money?
Wait,....what??? S*&t.
How much do you think hype affects the public perception of what good art is?
I haven't quite answered this completely for myself yet. BUT, I feel realistically "success" as an artist (i.e. you're getting paid, finally...) is fueled by the public's perception/acceptance of your work. Your "popularity" directly equates to the the amount you show, how often you are in printed visual matter, and how identifiable your work is to your viewer...etc, etc...realistically speaking.
Last CD you bought/downloaded/shoplifted?
Been listening to Boards of Canada, Team Sleep, Jose Gonzalez, RATATAT, Diplo, People Under the Stairs and Boom Bip a lot lately...
Describe your perfect day?
Having coffee, cigarettes and crappy comfort food and drawing with the Diner Crew back in Denver...sniff.
What make you happy?
Jimbo, the fam, late night drink & draws, dark chocolate, seeing my friends rock it.
What makes you sad?
The Teletubbies, Bush, bananas and when people have no other ambition in life other than watching sitcoms.
Sex, drugs or rock n roll?
Not enough, more than enough and can't get enough...
Last book you read?
The Realm of Secondhand Souls.
Tell us a secret?
When I was three, my best friend used to poop behind her shed.
Whats your favourite soup?
Tomato Basil or Grammy's Chicken.
What else do like other than art?
Jimbo, family, friends, the Boardwalk, a good bottle of wine, woodworking (I guess that's kind of still art...), pretending like I'm going to start sewing soon. A good, butt shakin thunderstorm is nice too.
Any regrets?
Not recently.
Ask yourself (and answer) a question!
If you didn't become an artist, what would you have wanted to be? Rabid rabbit trainer...
